Daycare is where the real goals live for many young kids: joining circle time, sharing toys with actual peers, following directions given to a group, napping on a mat that is not their bed, eating lunch at a table of three-year-olds. Teaching those skills at home and hoping they transfer is the long way around. Teaching them in the room where they are needed, with the children they are needed with, is the short way. For toddlers and preschoolers whose parents work full time, daycare delivery is often the difference between therapy happening and therapy waiting for the weekend.
It starts with permission and a conversation. We reach out to your daycare or preschool, explain what a session looks like, one trained RBT working quietly alongside your child inside the normal day, and agree on the ground rules with the director. Most providers welcome the extra skilled adult once they understand the therapist is there to help your child succeed in their program, not to audit it. Your child's RBT then works within the daycare's routine: arrival, free play, circle, meals, transitions, the exact moments where support is needed. Data flows back to Rachel, who supervises at roughly 20 percent, and to you.
Some centers say no, and that is their right. When that happens, we build the same goals through home sessions and parent coaching, and try the conversation again later. What we never do is promise a center's cooperation before it is given.
