Colorado ABA therapy for children and teens with autism

In-home ABA therapy that helps your kiddo find their words

For a lot of the families we work with, the first goal is communication. Budding Futures provides in-home ABA therapy across Colorado for children and teens with autism, using Applied Behavior Analysis to help your kiddo request, connect, and handle daily routines at their own pace. A named BCBA builds the plan, the same therapist works with your child in your home, and we coach you so progress keeps going between visits. We also help you sort Medicaid or private insurance before therapy starts.

What is ABA?

What is Applied Behavior Analysis therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA, is an evidence-based way to help children and teens with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) build real-life skills, one step at a time. Good ABA is gentle. At Budding Futures it is play-based and follows your child's lead, not compliance drills, and it is never sold as a cure. The goal is small, real wins your family actually notices, with each step matched to your child's development.

ABA for Communication

How ABA therapy helps your kiddo speak and communicate

Many of our plans start with communication, because that is what families ask for first. We have watched kids go from no words to asking for what they want. Depending on your child, that might mean spoken words, sign language, a picture system like PECS, or a speech device (AAC).

It might mean answering a question, waiting for a turn, or handling a change in plans without a meltdown. We meet your kiddo where they are and build from there, at their own pace.

Medicaid & Insurance

Does Budding Futures accept Medicaid for ABA therapy in Colorado?

Yes. Budding Futures accepts Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) for ABA therapy when coverage and clinical fit are in place. We are enrolled under Provider Types 83 and 84, and we also work with major private plans like Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and TRICARE. Ask for a free coverage check before the evaluation, and we will explain Medicaid, private insurance, and prior authorization so you know where you stand.

School-Based ABA

Can ABA therapy support school and daycare routines?

For some children, the hardest moments happen outside the living room. Budding Futures can help families understand when school-based ABA, daycare support, or school collaboration may fit the treatment plan and setting rules.

Who We Are

Who Is the Team Behind Budding Futures?

We started Budding Futures because finding quality ABA therapy for your child shouldn't feel like a second job. With the CDC reporting 1 in 31 children now diagnosed with autism and Colorado families facing waitlists of six months or longer, too many kids are losing critical early intervention time. We handle the insurance paperwork, come to your home, school, or daycare, and build a plan around what your family actually needs.

Most families don't realize their child qualifies for ABA therapy through Colorado Medicaid or their insurance plan. We verify your benefits before your first session, at no cost to you.

  • Each plan designed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Therapy delivered at home, school, daycare, or community settings by trained RBTs
  • Parents are coached as active partners, not kept on the sidelines
  • Progress is tracked, measured, and shared with your family regularly

What Progress Looks Like

What Does Progress Look Like with Budding Futures?

Progress is rarely a straight line, and it rarely happens all at once. These are the small, real wins our families celebrate, and what we build every therapy plan toward, at your child's pace.

First Words

Hearing your child say "mom," "dad," or ask for what they want for the very first time. We build communication skills from where your child is today.

Making Friends

Playing alongside other children, sharing, taking turns. Social skills that help your child connect with the world around them.

Daily Independence

Potty training. Getting dressed. Tolerating a haircut. The everyday skills that build confidence and reduce stress for the whole family.

Joining in Life

Staying at a birthday party. Sitting through a firework show. Trying a new food. Progress that makes everyday moments possible again.

Many of these milestones start with communication. See how ABA therapy can support speech and communication delays →

Why Families Choose Us

Why Do Colorado Families Choose Budding Futures?

We're a Colorado-based ABA agency built around relationships. You won't be just a case number here.

Therapy Where Your Child Is

Sessions happen at your home, your child's school, daycare, or community centers. Your child learns in the environments where skills matter most.

BCBA-Designed Programs

Every treatment plan is created and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, not an aide or coordinator. Clinical quality throughout.

Medicaid & Insurance Covered

Most families qualify. Colorado law mandates autism coverage for private insurance, and Medicaid covers ABA for all children under 21 through EPSDT. We verify your benefits for free so you know before you start.

Colorado Statewide Coverage

From Denver to Colorado Springs to Northern Colorado, we serve families across the state with therapists who are local to your community.

Built on Accountability

Lower BCBA Caseloads

We intentionally keep caseloads lower than many larger ABA organizations so each child gets real BCBA time, not just a name on a paper plan. How we set the numbers.

Supervision Above the Minimum

Our supervision target sits around 20%, well above the BACB 5% minimum, when clinically appropriate. More direct observation, more plan updates, more coaching for your RBT. See the supervision page.

No Waitlist for Assessments

Families do not sit on a list to start. Most begin onboarding the week they call. From there, authorization and staffing move as fast as a clean clinical match allows. How the start works.

Same Therapist Whenever Possible

Same RBT, same BCBA, by default. Reassignment only happens when scheduling, staffing, or a clinical reason makes it the right call. How we protect continuity.

Celebrating Every Win

Small wins add up to real, everyday progress

From a first word to a first playdate, we measure progress by the moments that matter most to your family.

How It Works

How Does the Budding Futures ABA Process Work?

Getting started is simple. Here's what to expect from your first conversation to your child's first session.

1
Assessment

A BCBA meets your family, observes your child, and identifies goals based on what matters most to you and your child's day-to-day needs.

2
Treatment Plan

We build a personalized program targeting communication, behavior, social skills, and daily independence using proven ABA methods.

3
Therapy Sessions

An RBT meets your child at home, school, daycare, or a community setting for regular sessions, typically 10 to 40 hours per week depending on your child's needs. Your BCBA monitors progress, reviews data, and keeps the plan updated as your child grows.

4
Growth & Transition

As skills build and goals are met, therapy adjusts. We celebrate every milestone with your family and work toward independence at your child's pace.

Can ABA therapy help my child talk or communicate?

Communication is where many of our plans start. Depending on your child, that can mean spoken words, sign language, a picture system like PECS, or a speech device (AAC), plus everyday skills like requesting, answering, and handling changes without a meltdown.

Do you provide ABA therapy for teens, not just young kids?

Yes. We work with younger kids, school-age children, and teens. The goals shift with age, from early communication and play to independence, handling frustration, and real-world routines for older kids.

What is Applied Behavior Analysis, in plain terms?

ABA is an evidence-based way to help children with autism spectrum disorder build real-life skills one step at a time. Ours is play-based and follows the child's lead, not compliance drills, and it is never sold as a cure.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) builds and supervises the plan, with Rachel Blackburn, BCBA as our Clinical Director. The same RBT and BCBA stay with your child whenever possible.

Is there really no waitlist to start?

There is no current waitlist for assessments. Most families begin onboarding the week they call, and from there authorization and staffing move as fast as a clean clinical match allows.

Does Medicaid or my insurance cover ABA?

Often, yes. We accept Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid) and work with major private plans like Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and TRICARE. We verify your benefits for free before therapy starts.
