Diagnosis to care

What to Do After an Autism Diagnosis

After an autism diagnosis, many parents leave with a report, a list of recommendations, and a lot of questions. Do you call insurance? Start ABA? Talk to the school? Look at speech or OT?

Budding Futures helps families turn the diagnosis into a clear next-step plan, without pretending everything is simple. ABA is one option among several, and we will be honest about what fits your child.

Take a breath, then take it one step at a time

You do not have to decide everything this week. Read the report, note what feels hardest at home, and gather the documents insurance may need: the diagnostic evaluation, your insurance or Medicaid card, and any doctor or specialist notes.

ABA is one option, not the only one

Depending on your child, the right plan may include ABA, speech therapy, occupational therapy, school supports, or parent support, often together. A BCBA-led evaluation can help you see what should come first. If you are not ready for ABA yet, that is a valid choice, and we will still help you understand your options.
