Children with both conditions often struggle with sustained attention, impulse control, task completion, and transitioning between activities. Before 2013, a child could not receive both diagnoses simultaneously. The DSM-5 changed that, and clinicians now recognize that addressing both conditions together produces better outcomes than treating either one in isolation.
Budding Futures uses ABA techniques specifically adapted for the attention and executive function challenges that come with ADHD. Visual schedules and token economies build sustained attention over time. Task analysis breaks complex activities into smaller, manageable steps. Differential reinforcement rewards on-task behavior and gradually extends attention spans. Antecedent strategies modify the environment to reduce distractions before they derail your child. These strategies work alongside any medication management your child receives from their pediatrician. ABA does not replace medical treatment for ADHD but complements it with skill-building that medication alone does not provide. Children with ADHD may also show aggressive behaviors driven by impulsivity, which ABA addresses simultaneously.
Because ADHD symptoms show up differently at home, school, and in social settings, Budding Futures delivers therapy across all four environments.
